dwarf-blue-fescueThis is a popular, small, tufted grass with finely textured, silvery blue evergreen foliage. It grows from 6 to 12 inches high in a neat mound. It must have well-drained soil, and prefers light shade or full sun. Frequent division is required or the center of the clump will die out. especially in moist, rich soil.Removing the flowers as they appear prolongs its useful life.

In Southern California, festuca is one of the few gray plants that will do well with light shade. Its color is better without the browning at the tips sometimes caused by the sun.
